Free children’s rights training in Cornwall this summer

Our next Informed and Influential training session is taking place on August 20th 2008 in Cornwall for children and young people in the south west.

The day will cover:

  • Children’s rights — what they are and how they’re protected
  • How to get involved in Get ready for change!
  • How you can make change happen
  • The opportunity to interview an MP
  • Top tips on being taken seriously by decision-makers

Random fact no 11

In 1669, children and young people petitioned Parliament to ask for an end to harsh and brutal treatment from teachers. Yet it wasn’t until 1986 that a law was passed to stop teachers from using any kind of physical punishment. The proposal was won in Parliament by just one vote!
