CRAE calls for Equality Bill to include children

The Children’s Rights Alliance for England has today called on the Government to extend legal protection from age discrimination to children.

The Equality Bill, published this week, excludes children from protection from age discrimination in the goods, facilities and services that they use. The Government says that it discrimination legislation is the best way to meet children’s needs.

Last week the Young Equals campaign coordinated by CRAE published Making the case. This report challenges the Government position that there is “little evidence” of harmful age discrimination against children and young people, and questions why the Government is failing to extend legal protection from age discrimination to under-18s.
