Time to talk - young people tell the Government what they think!

Time to Talk is a major consultation to get the views of parents, young people and professionals on how to make sure that every child has the help and the chances they need to be happy and successful. Everything the Government finds out through this consultation will help them to decide what should be in their new ten-year plan for children.

Children and young people from Get ready for change! did their own Time to Talk consultation, and wrote a response to the Government.

Some of the main things they wanted the Government to think more about were:

  • How the Government can better protect children’s rights
  • Lowering the voting age to 16
  • Making sure education is relevant to children and young people’s lives
  • Helping more young people to go to university
  • Producing more information especially for children about services that they can use
  • Why young people commit crimes, instead of concentrating on what crimes they commit.
