Get ready for Parliament!
On Tuesday 2 February at an event in Parliament, Get ready activists called on the Government to do more to protect and respect children’s rights.
Adam, Daniel-Sean, Imogen, Sana and Rhasan – on behalf of over 200 children and young people involved in the Get ready project – launched the final report from the Get ready project – Get ready for action!
They shared the recommendations from the 3 Get ready campaigns and spoke about the impact children have had on checking how well the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child is put into practice.
Sam Dimmock, CRAE’s head of policy and public affairs said:
‘Having so many MPs, Peers, children’s charities, lawyers and children and young people in Parliament talking about children’s rights was a real achievement.’
She continued: ‘The Get ready for action! report shows people in power just how effective children and young people can be in campaigning for their rights and in achieving change.’
At the event, the Children’s Minister responsible for the UNCRC, Baroness Morgan, and the Children’s Commissioner Sir Al, praised the achievements of the Get ready project and said how important it is that children and young people continue to speak out about their rights and get involved in decision-making.
