Children’s rights pledges

Our children’s rights champions are working hard to get local decision-makers to make children’s rights pledges* – a public promise that they will take action to improve the lives and rights of children and young people where they live or work.

“We must do all that we can to improve the rights of children in Britain ...” Benjamin Zephaniah, poet

Children’s rights pledges can be small or they can be huge. They just have to show that you are committeed to making sure children’s human rights are better respected and protected where you live.

A children’s rights pledge should say:

  • What the pledge is, and how the decision-maker plans to achieve it
  • How many children and young people the pledge will help
  • How long it will take you, the decision-maker, to fulfil the pledge
  • What article in the UN Convention the pledge is related to.

If you’re an adult decision-maker, you can make your pledge here.
