Meeting the Minister for Equality

Hi everybody, On Tuesday (18/9/07) 4 young people from across the U.K travelled to London to prepare to meet the Minster for Equality Ms Barbara Follet MP on Wednesday morning.

It was really exciting, we got to meet the Minister and talk to her about the issue of age discrimination and how it affects young people, everybody did brilliantly, the way they express everybody’s views from across the UK which the CRAE and other young people have gathered, the Minister seemed very surprised at some of the evidence many young people had, which was all stated in the draft report – she had actually read it! smile Yay!. The draft report is a document that CRAE worked incredible hard on, this document contains all the evidence, comments and opinions discussed at the age discrimination event, which the CRAE organised on 20th August. After the meeting we had a little debrief about how everybody felt it went, and to discuss what we thought the Minister might have really been thinking, now we have made our point, Age discrimination affects everybody especially young people. Fingers cross one day soon there might be a new Law about Age Discrimination, which the CRAE and all you young people who have helped make it happen!

Keep up the wonderful work
