A Working Progress…....

Hi my name’s Clare and I signed up to be a Children’s Rights Champion only yesterday, having been to the “Informed and Influential” Training last week, and the consultation held yesterday in London linked to the Government’s proposals to adjust the law on equality and discrimination….both of which I thoroughly enjoyed! I would recommend the training to everyone!

So why did I want to become a Children’s Rights Champion???
The answer is lots of reasons….the main one being that I am passionate about working with children and young people and believe that adults, in particular the Government and parents, have the duty to respect their rights.

Since becoming a Champion, i.e. since yesterday….I have been in contact with the Councillors in my local area.
All I did was go onto my local town’s website….google your town if you’re not sure of the address….and hopefully you’ll find, as i did, the contact details of your local Councillors!
In my email to them I simply explained a bit about the project, and what my role is as a Children’s Rights Champion….I also said that I hoped that in the future they would consider signing a pledge to promote and uphold Children’s Rights!

I’ve already had some fantastic results…..

One of the Councillors replied and has suggested to the other candidates that an all party motion on Children’s Rights be put together.
In order to implement such a motion a steering group would be needed….and so here is hopefully where I can step in with a group of young people!

I’m really excited about it all! And will keep you updated on the progress made in the local area!

All the best,

Clarex
