I joined the project because it sounded like a good opportunity to make a difference, and to improve the lives of young people in England. I wanted to ensure the rights of children and young people in England - and the UK as a whole - are recognised and respected, as the Government promised to do back in 1991 when it ratified the Convention.
Arron
Hi my name is Arron. I got involved in this group by seeing it in the leaflet CRAE gave out and I really wanted to do and then I got selected to do it so that is how I found out about it.

I really love being part of these types of things. I am very interested in youth democracy and current affairs. I feel that being part of this project will enable me to increase my knowledge on human rights and enforce them when necessary. I am a member of a youth parliament in my area and I will most definitely be reporting back to them and helping them promote this project in my constituency.

I’m really involved with human rights and this is a great opportunity to concentrate on rights that directly affect children like me! I hope that we see a measurable change in these three years to come, and start the ball rolling for many more developments! The more young people we get involved now, the more politically aware and active these young people will be in the future.
jackson
I got involved in this project because I am very interested in children's rights and I don't think that young people are allowed to speak up for themselves in England

I got involved in this project because I thought I was a really good chance to be more involved in this heated subject children’s rights. I was also on the CRAE Young People’s Panel which enabled me to be involved in other sections of the project. I decided I would let you know that I really don’t like cows and just in case you were asking, Yes! I do love Trains Mwah ha ha !!!!!!!!!!!!
Jess101
I got involved in the project because I wanted to be a part of something that put forward children's ideas, thoughts and opinions and will help make children's lives better in the UK!
Joel S
I joined the steering group because I am really excited about playing a big part in how children’s rights are evolving and actually affecting young people in the UK. I want to celebrate the achievements of the government, as well as bring out the truths of the problems that we are facing as young people.
J_B
I joined the CRAE because I wanted to make a difference on children’s rights matters. As a 10 year old, my rights were abused and joining CRAE will make sure other children get their rights. I enjoyed the residential stay up in Leicester as well as learning a lot.
Kalika
I got involved in the Get ready for Geneva project because I believe that its aims and priorities to get children and young people’s voices heard is of the utmost importance. After all, who could have more experience of how well children’s rights are respected and implemented in England than the young people it affects?
Kevin
I’ve been involved with children’s rights services for over five years and feel very passionately that more needs to be done to implement change in accordance with the UN Convention. I hope that Get ready for Geneva will enable me to express not only my concerns but the concerns of numerous young people across the country with this very important issues.
Lauren
I got involved in the Get ready for Geneva project because it is a chance to really have an impact on young people and their lives. It seems like a very positive project, and a chance to really help people understand their rights.
Natalie
I got involved with Get ready for Geneva because I believe that children deserve a voice, and part of having that voice is knowing their rights. I am a member of the UK Youth Parliament until February 2008, so this project ties very closely with that. Children are the next generation, and are extremely important in today's world, so ensuring they live the happy life they are supposed to and pushing the government to change will be great! I will and have met some great people, and I look forward to working with them all for the next three years.
parham
I got involved in the project because I want to help children get rights that have been taken from them, and because I knew I could tell the United Nations what the children of England really want.
Eni C
My name is Eni and I am 16 years old I live in east London. The reason why I got involved in the project is because I what to make a difference in young peoples lives and make sure they get all the rights they deserve.
Rachael
Hi. I got involved in this project through my other group and what I did was that they asked me if I wanted to go to London to do a piece of work for them which was Informed and Influential training. Then from there I got a leaflet about Get ready for Geneva and I filled it in and I got picked. I really enjoyed the first meeting that was in Leicester - it was so much fun.
Shamila
I got involved in the project as I like working with children and helping them when they have problems. I believe that all other children no matter their backgrounds or disabilities have the same rights as anyone else. I would like children's rights to be put into practice where I live.
Shaunagh
I got involved through the project through a club I go to. We got letters sent out and I told my mum I wanted to go. She didn’t understand what it was about so she ticked them all. I thout it would be great to go a great laugh. A couple of weeks later we got an acceptance letter. This is my first time working with CRAE and I can’t wait for the next two and a half years!
Usman
I got involved because children often don't express their views, either because they can't or because they don't know how to. It is essential a greater awareness is given to them from projects like ours, especially when some adults seem to forget we do have rights! It doesn't matter where you come from, whether you're rich or poor, black or white, or male or female - all children are human and therefore all of us have and need rights.
zblue
My name is Zakeus-Blue I am 7. I wanted to join CRAE ‘cos I at first wanted to know more about the rights of children. At CRAE children are listen to and our views are taken seriously there needs to be more groups like CRAE I believe with CRAE we can get children’s voices heard. And I want to be a part of trying to make this happen
